Mineola Officials Eye Legislation Aimed At Panhandlers

MINEOLA, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Officials in Mineola on Long Island want to make aggressive panhandling a crime.

They define "aggressive" as "intentionally or recklessly making any physical contact."

Some residents complain it's been happening at the LIRR station -- particularly at ticket machines.

A homeless coalition spokesman said the proposed law penalizes people for being poor.
