NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The Mets fired manager Mickey Callaway on Thursday.

In a statement, the team's General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen said the decision to let Callaway go was "in the best interest of our franchise at this time."

“We want to thank Mickey for his consistent work ethic and dedication," Van Wagenen added.

Callaway, who was hired in 2017, finishes with a 163-161 record over two seasons with the Mets.
