Meningitis Scare Hits Long Island High School

GREAT NECK, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- There's a meningitis scare in Great Neck.

An employee of Great Neck North High School has been diagnosed with the potentially deadly illness.

The school superintendent told Newsday anyone who had contact with that employee has been notified.

The Nassau County Department of Health has confirmed it is investigating.

Meningitis symptoms include fever, a severe headache, confusion, vomiitting and a stiff neck.

The disease can cause permanent brain damage or death.
