Megan McCain Calls Remarks About Cancer-Stricken Father Unacceptable

May 11, 2018 - 12:18 pm

WASHINGTON (1010 WINS) -- Megan McCain had a thought about the Trump White House on Friday, after reports that a communications aide made an insensitive remark about her father in a meeting with other staffers.

"I don't understand what kind of environment you're working in where that would be acceptable, and then you can come to work the next day and still have a job, and that's all I have to say about it," she said.

The remark has been attributed to Kelly Sadler. In discussions about Senator McCain's opposition to the nomination of Gina Haspel as CIA Director, Sadler reportedly said that his objection didn't matter, because 'he's dying anyway.'

McCain is being treated for brain cancer, and his prospects are not food. However, his close friend in the Senate, Lindsey Graham said he visited McCain this week and was pleasantly surprised to find that his friend had gained weight and strength. Graham called any talk of his demise premature.

He said McCain did not talk about retiring from the Senate, but they did speak of doing some events at the McCain Institute over the summer.
