Mayor’s Office Awaits Report On Proposed Brooklyn-Queens Streetcar

April 04, 2018 - 9:48 am

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Mayor Bill de Blasio may be backing off on one of his marquee transportation ideas -- a streetcar for the Brooklyn-Queens waterfront.

Officials told the Daily News that studies for the so-called B-Q-X are still underway, but if the connector doesn't pay for itself, they'll have to decide if it's the right use of capital money for transportation.

In his 2016 State of the City address, the mayor talked up the idea of setting up the 16-mile trolley run from Sunset Park to Astoria with the hope that it would pay for itself in increased property values.

The report is expected to be finished soon.
