Mattis: No Sanctions Relief If North Korea Doesn't Take Steps To Denuclearize

June 03, 2018 - 4:30 pm

SINGAPORE (1010 WINS) -- Secretary of Defense James Mattis said this weekend that there will be no sanctions relief for North Korea if it does not take steps to denuclearize.

Mattis’ comments came at an annual security summit being held in Singapore that includes South Korean and Japanese defense ministers.

Singapore is also the venue where President Donald Trump is set to meet with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un on June 12.

Meanwhile, there is word that Kim Jong Un plans to meet with another leader – the president of Syria.

A report shows a disturbing collaboration between North Korea and Syria.

Just this winter, the United Nations released a report citing what they called evidence of cooperation on chemical weapons and ballistic missiles between Syria and North Korea, correspondent Alexandra Field reported. It was part of a sweeping report on the enforcements of sanctions against North Korea.

There is no word when Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Kim Jong Un will meet.
