WATCH: Masked thief steals $30K from 18 Manhattan restaurants and bars, NYPD says

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A masked thief broke into 18 different Manhattan restaurants and bars during the COVID-19 pandemic and stole around $30,000 in cash, liquor and electronics, the NYPD said.

Between April 21 and May 4, the burglar broke into businesses in neighborhoods including Midtown, Chelsea, Hell’s Kitchen, the Lower East Side and the Upper West Side by cutting through their vinyl door entrances or breaking their glass front doors, police said. 

Marlo Bistro on the Upper West Side lost $500 and two iPads to the thief on April 21, the NYPD said; NISI NYC in Midtown lost six tablets and three liquor bottles. 

Surveillance video taken from outside Marlo Bistro shows the thief slipping through a hole in the eatery's vinyl door entrance to gain access.

Anyone with information about the thief’s whereabouts is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
