NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police are searching for a man who pushed a 74-year-old man down a flight of subway stairs and then punched a woman who tried to stop him from getting away.

The 74-year-old man was walking down the stairs to the 4 train platform at the Lexington Avenue–59th Street subway station on the Upper East Side shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday when the man came up to him.

Police said the man pushed the 74-year-old down the stairs. A 45-year-old woman tried to stop him from fleeing the scene, so he punched her in the face, according to police.
