NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Brooklyn man fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself early Monday morning, police said.

At approximately 9 a.m. a 39-year-old woman was found sitting in an SUV with several gunshot wounds on Louisiana Avenue and Twin Pines Drive East in the East New York section of the borough.

The woman, identified Petula Myrtil, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Her 49-year-old husband, Andre Myrtil, was found with a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition but later died.

The investigation is ongoing.
