Man Who Punched Women On Subway Arrested For 64th Time

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man with a history of 64 arrests is back behind bars, accused of hitting three women on the subway.

Police said the incident happened Monday afternoon at Columbus Circle, aboard the “B” train. A homeless man stepped onto the train and then attacked multiple women for no apparent reason.

One victim told CBS 2 News that she witnessed him punch one woman and immediately tried to move away from him. She said he moved passed her but then turned around and struck her in the back of the head.

The witness said he moved through the car and punched an unidentified Asian woman in the face.

“Her right eye socket was like swollen, she was bleeding,” the witness told CBS.

Police arrested the attacker shortly after and discovered he had been in police custody over 60 times.

The attacker was taken to Bellevue Hospital for a mental health evaluation.
