NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man faces multiple charges after he followed an 11-year-old girl into her school and groped her, police said.

The man followed the girl into the Isaac Newton Middle School for Math and Science on Pleasant Avenue in East Harlem on Thursday, according to police, who said he accessed the school through an unlocked door.

After allegedly groping the girl, he was tackled by a teacher and eventually arrested.

The man, identified by police as 52-year-old Anthony Anderson, faces charges of sex abuse, forcible touching, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal trespass.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Department of Education wrote: “This is completely unacceptable and this individual was arrested by the NYPD inside the school. Counselors are available to students and we have added additional security to the school and notified all families.”

A sizable police presence remained outside the school Friday.
