The 21-year-old woman was walking with her ex-boyfriend as she pushed their baby in a stroller on Sedgwick Avenue, near the Jerome Park Reservoir, in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx around 7 p.m. on Tuesday when the two got into an argument, the NYPD said.

As the argument escalated, the ex-boyfriend, identified by police as Manhattan resident Carlos Gonzalez, 25, put the woman in a chokehold and dragged her to the ground, taking the baby and stroller down in the process, surveillance video from the scene shows.

Gonzalez then stabbed the woman several times before fleeing the scene, police said.

The woman and her baby were taken to a nearby hospital, where they were both listed in stable condition, the NYPD said.

Police are now searching for Gonzalez, who stands at 5-foot-10, weighs 140 pounds and was last seen wearing yellow shorts, a white t-shirt, white sneakers and carrying a black bag.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
