Police are looking for a man who stabbed and slashed a stranger in Greenwich Village.

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man is lucky to be alive, after he was attacked on Fifth Avenue.

Police say a 23-year-old man was approached on the street by a stranger, Friday, who threatened him, and pulled out a knife.

The man was slashed and stabbed multiple times before his attacker got away.

The victim was released from the hospital and is recovering at home.

Cops say the suspect was white or Hispanic, between 25 and 30-years-old. He was 5'11", between 160 and 180-lbs, and was last seen wearing a blue overcoat, black jeans, and black sneakers.
