NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man was shot and killed in East Flatbush Sunday night, and a community activist was one of the people to discover the man’s body.

Community activist Tony Herbert was at a friend’s house to watch the Super Bowl when he heard gunfire around 11 p.m.

“I heard three shots, because we have the window open slightly for some air,” Herbert told 1010 WINS. “When I heard the shots it went completely silent after that for about a good 30 seconds. That’s when I immediately decided to call 911.”

Herbert described the shots as "methodical," like "someone was shooting at something."

Herbert went outside to find a man lying face-down, partially nudged under a red SUV, with bullet wounds to his head and body.

Police rushed to the scene at East 49th Street, but the 43-year-old victim was ultimately pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital. He has not been identified.

No arrests have been made.
