NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police say a man that was sliced in the neck, stomach and leg outside of a Times Square homeless shelter Thursday night is in critical condition.

The attack occurred around 7 p.m. outside of the Aladdin Hotel, now a homeless shelter located on 45 Street.

The victim and his attacker, both 31-years-old, are residents in the shelter and were fighting over a woman, police said.

Officials say the victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The Daily News reports that frantic 911 callers described what looked like his intestines spilling out of his body.

NYPD recovered a large orange folding knife a block and a half away but say the attacker is still at large.

The city plans to close the shelter in 2021.
