Racist bus rant

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The MTA is asking the NYPD to investigate after a man was caught on video hurling racial slurs at a bus driver during an outburst onboard a bus in Brooklyn this week.

Witnesses say the man went on the rant while aboard a B68 bus on Coney Island in Midwood Tuesday night.

Video posted to YouTube shows the man hurling the N-word and other slurs at a bus driver, reportedly because the bus was late.

“I was waiting for the bus for 45 minutes," he tells the driver.

When the driver asks him to leave the bus, he responds: “Drive and shut your mouth, ******.”

The man eventually got up and left but not before slamming his fist into the barrier that protects the driver and spitting at the driver.

New York City Transit Chief Andy Byford said watching the video made him sick.

“It was disgusting,” Byford said. “It was virulent, racist, horrible language. The fact that the person then spat at my operator is completely unacceptable.”

MTA spokesman Shams Tarek called the man’s rant “abhorrent, racist, and violent behavior.”

Tarek said the MTA has asked the NYPD to investigate.
