Man dies after being struck by lightning in park on Long Island

SMITHTOWN, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- A Queens man has died after he was struck by lightning in a park on Long Island Saturday night.

Police said Aneal Lall was standing under a tree at Sunken Meadow State Park at around 7 p.m. when he was struck.

Emergency personnel responded immediately and performed CPR before he was transported to St. Catherine’s Hospital in Smithtown.

The 32-year-old man from Richmond Hill died at the hospital.

It’s unclear what the man had been doing at the park before he was struck.
