Man convicted of strangling wife in UWS apartment

March 14, 2019 - 9:51 am

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man was convicted for murdering his estranged wife inside of her Upper West Side apartment in 2009 on Wednesday.

A jury found Roderick Covlin, 46, guilty of second degree murder for strangling Shele Covlin.

Covlin's body was found face down in the bathtub by their 9-year-old daughter, and was initially ruled accidental until a year later, when her body was exhumed.

Prosecutors said one day before Shele Covlin was reportedly going to cut Roderick out of her will, he killed her and then staged the scene to look like a bathtub drowning.

Her death was ruled accidental until her body was exhumed a year later.

Two months before inheriting her multi-million dollar estate, Roderick Covlin was arrested and charged with murder.

Roderick Covlin will be sentenced April 10 according to a report from ABC7
