Man on Bronx property allegedly beaten to death by homeowner

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Bronx homeowner allegedly beat a man he saw on his property to death with a metal pipe in an alley late Thursday night, according to authorities.

Police found the 29-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive after arriving at the scene, near East 223rd Street and Barnes Avenue just before midnight.

He had head trauma and was taken to Montefiore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The 54-year-old homeowner, Troy George, has been arrested and charged with murder.

Police were responding to a call about a robbery in progress, but they are not sure if they victim was trying to rob the house, of if he had been in the house at all.

They do not believe the men knew each other.

The investigation remains ongoing and no charges have been filed yet.

The victim has yet to be identified.
