Man accused of shooting at NJ officer arrested at Penn Station

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested a man they say opened fire on officers in New Jersey at Penn Station on Thursday night.

U.S. Marshals and NYPD officials cuffed 29-year-old Miguel Angel Villegas of New Haven, Connecticut, at Penn Station shortly after 8 p.m.

Authorities say a Tuckerton Borough police officer exchanged gunfire with a man after a traffic stop.

The officer was not injured.

The man is being held in New York and is expected to be extradited to New Jersey.

Villegas is expected face charges including attempted murder, kidnapping, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose.
