Man, 23, fatally shot in torso, 1st homicide of 2020 on Staten Island

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Investigators have deemed the death of a 23-year-old Staten Island man a homicide.

Shortly before 9 p.m. on Thursday, police discovered a Avanti Brock lying on the roadway at a deli near 215 Broad Street, with a gunshot wound to his torso.

EMS transported the victim to Staten Island University North Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.

Officials said this is the borough’s first homicide of 2020.
