Cops search for machete-wielding mugger targeting women in Queens

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for a violent machete-wielding robbery suspect in Queens.

The suspect is targeting women and has robbed five women in separate attacks -- his most recent was in Astoria, police said.

In each of the attacks, police said say the suspect approached the women from behind, displayed the large knife then demanded cash before running off.

The first attack took place on July 28. In this case the suspect got away with $128, 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reported.

The last attack took place on Sunday.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6'0",tall with a thin build in his early 20's.  He was last seen wearing red sneakers. In the last incident, he was wearing a surgical mask.
