NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- More than a half-dozen baby ducklings that fell into a sewer on Staten Island were rescued by the NYPD.

Officers from the 123rd Precinct and ESU came to the chicks' rescue on Saturday morning.

The little birds had fallen into the sewer through a grate on Holdridge Avenue in Tottenville.

Photos posted by the 123rd Precinct show officers posing with the ducklings after saving them.

And the news gets better: Officers located the birds' mother at a nearby pond and returned them to her!
