NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- In her film "The Weekend," Sasheer Zamata ("SNL," "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert") plays Zadie, a comedian who goes to her mom's bed and breakfast for the weekend with her ex boyfriend and his new girlfriend.

A love triangle soon becomes a love rectangle when a stranger appears, and, as Zamata told 1010 WINS' Elizabeth Sherwood, "it's a big kerfuffle."

Zamata, a comedian herself, connected to the role --- she has been doing stand up for years.  She spoke with 1010 WINS about her experience playing a leading role with snark (say it ain't so!), playing a character placed in an awkward situation, and being back in New York for the premiere.

"The Weekend," directed by Stella Meghie, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.  It also stars Tone Bell, DeWanda Wise, Kym Whitley, and Y'lan Noel.
