WEST ORANGE, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Tuesday was sentencing day for the man who said he was on a jihad when he killed 19-year-old Brendan Tevlin almost four years ago in West Orange.

Before the judge pronounced the sentence, Ali Muhammed Brown addressed the court.

"I apologize to his parents and I apologize to those who are close to him and to those who love him and respect him and honor him. I appreciate the things that I did, even though I hurt people, I don't regret the things that I did because it made me who I am today," he said.

Brown was then sentenced to life behind bars without parole.

He admitted to shooting Tevlin as he sat in his car at a traffic light.
