NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A police chase Tuesday night through Long Island ended with three suspects in custody, one of whom was shot and wounded.

The chase began in Hempstead Village and came to an end in Valley Stream, when the driver the police was chasing hit four parked cars, according to officials.

Events began while police were investigating a crash in Hempstead Village, when a white BMW sedan fled the scene, leading officers to follow.

After hitting the cars, the three passengers tried to escape on foot.

Two were apprehended soon after, while the driver continued forward but was captured in less than a half hour, said officials.

Police have not confirmed it was one of their officers who fired on the suspect and it was not clear how many shots were fired.

The wounded suspect was hiding in a backyard when he was apprehended.
