LONG BEACH, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- It's a milestone weekend on Long Island at this weekend's 28th annual pride celebration in Long Beach.

LGBT Network CEO David Kilmnick spoke with 1010 WINS.

"For the first time in Long Island history we are raising the pride flag at the Town of Hempstead which is uneblievable and would be so unimaginable to so many people," he said.

Hempstead town and, Long Beach, and LGBT officials were scheduled to hold a news conference to discuss the three day festival which runs Friday through Sunday, and includes a parade and concert. The Village People's Randy Jones will also be on hand.

Extra LIRR trains are running as some 30,000 people from all over the country are expected.
