NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  At least 24 people are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries from carbon monoxide fumes in a Midtown church, according to FDNY EMS.

High levels of carbon monoxide were reported in the basement of St Malachy’s Church on 49th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue.

Three people are in the hospital, while most were treated at the scene.

The church operates an extensive seniors program, with people receiving their meals-on-wheels items at the church.

An FDNY spokesperson said that the high reading appeared to be caused by a malfunctioning motor from the stove ventilation hood inside the community room of the church.
