NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Lady Gaga has opened up about being raped and the long term impact it has had on her.

In a new cover story for the October issue of Vogue, she says it took years for her to find the strength to even share her story.

When it finally came out, Gaga, 32, said it was like a big, ugly monster and she realized you have to face the monster in order to heal.

She also said that she suffers from PTSD because of the assault which happened when she was 19 years old.

In 2015, Gaga released the song, "Til It Happens To You" from "The Hunting Ground" documentary about campus rape.
