Justify Arrives At Belmont To Chase Horse Racing’s Triple Crown

ELMONT, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Long Island is going to bustling this weekend, as Justify tries to win the Belmont Stakes and the Triple Crown on Saturday.

The horse arrived in rock star fashion from Louisville.

Justify walked past a crowd of spectators, supporters, and stable workers as he made his way from a carrier trip into barn number one at Belmont. Trainer Bob Baffert said he looked good after the long trip.

"All the horses in the barn, they were all screaming, yelling, I don't know he got their attention somehow," he said. "He must give off something, but it's almost like they were greeting him."

Baffert trained the last Triple Crown winner, American Pharoah in 2015. On Saturday, he'll try for a repeat.

"We have to stay focused and concentrate on what we need to do, don't get caught up in it," he said.

He thinks Justify is looking strong and can get it done.

American Pharoah was only the 12th horse to accomplish the feat. The Belmont Stakes Festival starts Thursday, with 90,000 people expected to be at the park. Extra trains are being provided. Post time for the race is 6:37 p.m. on Saturday.
