Chanel Lewis, 22, saw his first trial for the murder of Karina Vetrano, end in a mistrial back in November.

Vetrano's body was found in Spring Creek Park in August 2016.

Lewis is accused of strangling and sexually abusing 30-year-old Vetrano, and leaving her body in the weeds.

Vetrano's body was found by her father and detectives. Lewis was arrested months later, his DNA was found on Vetrano's neck, under her fingernails, and on her phone. He also made two confessions.

The jury in Lewis' first trial voted 7-5 in favor of conviction. Vetrano's family and prosecutors supported a mistrial because they believed the jury was too deeply divided, AMNY reports.
