NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden visited the Stonewall Inn Tuesday afternoon, ahead of the 50th anniversary later this month of the uprising that took place there in 1969, sparked by a police raid.

"During a surprise 40 min stop at NYC's Stonewall Inn with @DrBiden, @JoeBiden bought a round of beer for everyone at the bar," ABC News campaign embed Christopher Donato tweeted. "One patron told him she wanted to see if he was actually going to buy a beer for everyone. Biden responded 'I always do what I say..."

Biden took selfies with the bar staff, as well as others at the historial LGBTQ landmark, including longtime LGBTQ activist Mark Segal.

One staffer joked, "You can put your resume at the end and we'll look it over." Biden laughed and said, "It all started here, guys."

He then whipped out his credit card and ordered drinks for everyone in attendance.
