NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Seems the heat wave broke just in time for the start of fall football.

The first NFL game of the season was played in Philadelphia Thursday night.

And now, the Jets and Giants get ready for their season openers. And a new season full of promise is about to begin.

The Giants take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, while the Jets play the Detroit Lions in Detroit Monday night.

Our John Montone talked to fans outside of MetLife Stadium Friday to get their take on the upcoming season.

When asked if Eli Manning is washed up at age 37, Giants fan Robert told Montone, "Eli is going to definitely going to throw some good touchdowns this year...He's not done. He's far from done."

Jets fans are especially excited about their new starting quarterback Sam Darnold

"This year I say they're going to get to 9 wins," Jets fan Anthony told Montone.

That's playoff talk, Montone said. "Yes it is. I'm a Jets fan. What am I going to say?" Anthony added.
