'Jersey Shore' star 'The Situation' sentenced to 8 months in prison for tax evasion

NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS/AP) -- "The Jersey Shore" star Michael "The Situation'' Sorrentino has been sentenced to eight months in prison and two years of supervised release after he pleaded guilty to tax evasion in January.

At court were his fiancé Lauren Pesce, as well as his "Jersey Shore" castmates—Jenni "JWoww" Farley, Ronnie Magro-Ortiz, DJ Pauly D, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Deena Cortese, Vinny Guadagnino and Angelina Pivarnick.

"Mike accepts the courts decision and looks forward to marrying his college sweetheart, Lauren Pesce and moving forward together after serving his sentence," his rep told Us Weekly. "He anticipates to come back stronger as an individual and couple in the same healthy mind set that he has had for the last 3 years. He and Lauren are both so thankful for everyones support and prayers.”

Sorrentino's brother, Marc, also has pleaded guilty was sentenced to two years in prison for tax fraud.

The brothers were charged in 2014 with multiple tax offenses related to nearly $9 million in income.

"The Situation'' appeared on all six seasons of the show that ran from 2009 to 2012 and followed the lives of rowdy housemates in the New Jersey town of Seaside Heights. 

He and other cast members reunited this spring for "Jersey Shore Family Vacation.''
