TRENTON, NJ (1010 WINS) -- Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez denounced allegations that she interfered in an investigation into sexual assault allegations by a state worker, and said she stands by the decision not to file charges.

Suarez said she is familiar with Katie Brennan -- a top state housing aide who accused Albert Alvarez of sexually assaulting her in April 2017, when they were working on Governor Phil Murphy's campaig. But Suarez said she wasn't involved in the investigation, and only learned about it this month.

Rumors of sex assault allegations after Murphy aide steps down reports that Assemblywoman Nancy Munoz (R-Union County) told the Jersey Journal that any hearings on the matter need to include testimony from Suarez.

"She should be questioned," Munoz said. "(Brennan) reported immediately and the fact that the prosecutor's office didn't do anything and then deflect and say there's a conflict of interest — it's dubious at best."

Suarez told the Jersey Journal that she is prepared to testify under oath.

"I agree that I should be questioned, under oath, about what I knew and when I knew it, and I look forward to that opportunity," she said.

The investigation has been reopened, and transferred to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.

Earlier this month, Alvarez resigned from his post with the Schools Development AUthority. He denied doing anything wrong.
