NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hasn’t even been sworn in to Congress yet, but she’s been drawing a lot of attention, including from former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

The former governor took exception to the congresswoman-elect's supposed comparison of her election to the moon landing back in 1969.

Huckabee tweeted: “Ocasio-Cortez compares her election to moon landing. Huh? Big difference. Moon landing was LUNAR, not LOONEY.”

He went on to write: “Moon landing done by ppl who knew what they were doing...those who elected someone who thought there were 3 branches of Congress did NOT.”

Ocasio-Cortez fired back, aiming at Huckabee’s daughter.

The congresswoman-to-be tweeted: “Leave the false statements to Sarah Huckabee. She’s much better at it.”

She went on to dig into the governor even further: “Also, you haven’t been a Governor of any state for 10+ years now.”

Huckabee ended his time as governor of Arkansas in 2007.

According to the Daily Mail, Ocasio-Cortez said this while at a press conference hosted by the Sunshine Movement, an advocacy group that acts against global warming:

“We went to the moon. We electrified the nation. We established civil rights. We enfranchised the country. We dig deep, and we did it. We did it when no one else thought that we could. That's what we did when so many of us won an election this year.”

In her tweet to Huckabee, Cortez appeared to emphasize that her comparison to the moon landing was more about a “Green New Deal” she and environmentalists are pressing for.

She tweeted at Huckabee: “A Green New Deal will take a level of ambition + innovation on the scale of the moon landing. We’ve been done it before, and can do it again.”

Ocasio-Cortez will represent parts of Queens and the Bronx in the House of Representatives starting in January.
