How to score the hottest Amazon deals this Cyber Monday

November 26, 2018 - 11:24 am

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – This Cyber Monday is set to be the biggest U.S. online shopping day in history, with the holiday expected to generate an estimated $7.8 billion in sales.

That figure is up 18 percent from last year and significantly more than the $6.2 billion in online sales from Black Friday, according to Adobe Analytics.

The line between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is increasingly blurring and many retailers have extended the traditional one-day shopping holidays into days-long or even weeks-long events.

Nevertheless, Amazon is offering up thousands of markdowns in every shopping category on Monday.

So how do you navigate the online retail giant's whirlpool of discounts, bundles and price comparisons?

1. Get a Prime Membership, even if it’s a free trial, according to USA Today. That’s because Prime members get first dibs on “lighting deals” that end once the products are sold out.

2. Become familiar with Amazon’s deal pages so you can keep “upcoming” lighting deals on your radar. USA Today suggests adding deals to your watch list and scheduling a reminder so you’re first in the digital line for a bargain.

3. Get to know Alexa since Amazon likes to offer exclusive sales through the virtual devices. You can ask Alexa “What are the deals?” to hear more. USA Today says these deals aren’t available anywhere else, so you need to buy an Echo or download the Alexa app to take advantage.

4. Know that you can still take advantage of a deal even if the product is no longer in stock. You’ll be put on a waitlist and your order will be shipped once the product is back in stock.

5. Make sure to act fast if you see an unbeatable deal. That’s because it’s often unclear how long the deals will last. A deal could be around for days -- or it might end minutes from when you first see it.
