Hopes High For Yankees Fans As Opening Day Approaches

March 28, 2018 - 1:56 pm

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Thursday is Opening Day for both of New York's baseball teams, and hopes are high.

The Mets open at home against the Cardinals at 1:10 p.m. The Yankees will have to wait just a couple hours longer for their first pitch against the Blue Jays. The Bombers will open at home on Monday, when the Tampa Bay Rays come to town.

1010 WINS' Juliet Papa was in the Bronx, where everything was looking good for Opening Day.

"We're getting ready for Opening Day. This neighborhood is on fire, everybody is excited beyond belief," Dr. Carey Goodman.

Dr. Goodman runs the business improvement district on 161st Street. The store fronts are touching up their paint and cleaning up their windows.

"This is going to be the year the Yankees get back to and win the World Series, so we're giving fans buttons that say '28 in 2018," Goodman said.

The bunting is already there, the pennant? Perhaps not far behind.
