NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Breakfast may be the most important meal of the day, but you might want to skip this one.

Honey Smacks has been linked to 73 cases of salmonella in 31 states, causing the Kellogg Company to recall the cereal.

People affected range from less than one year old to 87, and at least 24 people have been hospitalized. California, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania have the highest number of reported cases.

On Thursday, the Center for Disease Control urged people to not eat Honey Smacks.

The CDC says the investigation is ongoing. No other Kellogg products are included in the recall.
