NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A homeless man that may have been fatally struck by a train was found dead on the tracks of a Manhattan subway station on Sunday, officials said.

The man was discovered by a train conductor entering the Bleecker and Lafayette Street station just after 5 p.m., officials said.

Authorities believe the man, who is in his 40's, had been struck by an express train earlier but are unsure of how he ended up on the tracks of the express line, which according to MTA officials say is not adjacent to a subway platform.

The medical examiner will determine the victim's exact cause of death.
