71-year-old homeless man brutally attacked inside Port Authority, suspect sought

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police are searching for the man they said brutally attacked a 71-year-old homeless man in a subway station in Midtown on Monday.

Police say at approximately 3:40 p.m., the victim became involved in a verbal dispute with the suspect inside the passageway of the 42nd Street Port Authority subway station.

The dispute then escalated into a physical altercation, at which time the suspect began to strike the victim in head with belt buckle, causing a laceration, police said.

Officials say the suspect continued to assault the victim, punching and kicking him several times causing him to fall to the ground.

The suspect fled the location in unknown direction with two other unidentified males.

EMS transported the victim was was taken to NYC Health & Hospitals/Bellevue to be treated for his injuries.
