Home Engulfed In Flames After Explosion In Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Two people were rushed to the hospital after their home in Woodbridge blew up on Saturday morning.

"We got a call of a house explosion, and when officers and fire department arrived the whole house was engulfed in flames, and two people were outside of the house on fire basically. Those two people were flown out," Woodbridge Police Lieutenant Joseph Licciardi said.

Licciardi said it happened on 121 Vernon Way in Port Reading.

"There were 13 victims in the fire, seven were adults six were juveniles," Lt. Joseph Goodheart added.

The investigation into why the explosion occurred was still ongoing. The two people caught in the explosion ran out of the house on fire and were rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital. The 11 other people injured in the blast suffered only minor injuries.
