Gunman sought by NYPD after double shooting in Queens

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Authorities are searching for a gunman responsible for shooting a man and woman in Queens Wednesday night.

The incident occurred around 8:25 p.m. in front of 22-37 Dix Avenue in the Far Rockaway section.

Police say a 33-year-old man was shot in the leg and a 21-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound in her left shoulder.

According to a report from ABC-TV, both victims said an unknown gunman brandished a firearm and  then began to shoot for unknown reasons.

Officials are investigating whether the victims were the intended targets.

The victims were transported to Jamaica Hospital to be treat for non-life threatening injuries and are expected to survive.

Police say the suspect fled in an unknown direction.

No arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing.
