NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man was caught shoplifting at a Long Island 7-Eleven and then assaulted the employee who saw him before good Samaritians captured him, police sya.

The incident occurred around midnight Friday on Old Country Road in Westbury.

William Mohan, 53, hid store items in his clothing, and the worker who saw him asked him to return the goods, say authorities.

Mohan attacked the employee, pushing him into a display rack, getting away only when other customers entered the story.

The patrons then followed, Mohan, who fled, and caught him, bringing him back to face police.

Police took him into custody, found the stolen goods, and Mohan was charged with second-degree robbery.
