NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A lucky young girl miraculously survived a fall out of a sixth-story window in Harlem.

The unidentified 9-year-old girl reportedly fell out of the window, behind an air conditioning unit that was not secure.

“There was a couch right by where the air conditioner was at, and she came out,” said Tyrone Ball, president of the Tenants Association. “Whether she was on top of the couch, I don’t know. But she came out through the window.”

The girl was rushed from the Saint Nicholas Houses on Frederick Douglas Boulevard to Harlem Hospital following the fall at around 5:30 p.m., police said.

The New York Post reports that her fall was broken by the roof of a childcare center, located on the ground floor at the back of the building.

The 9-year-old only suffered a broken ankle.
