Watch Dad's Priceless Reaction When Son Shocks Him With Patriots Super Bowl Ring

(WEEI) -- The bulk of the Patriots players and coaches responsible for Super Bowl LIII victory over the Rams gathered at the home of owner Robert Kraft on June 6 to receive their "largest ever" rings.

Guys like Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman enjoyed the big party to go with the big ring earned in the big game.

But along the way on the 2018 season there were plenty of role players in New England and guys who made just a cameo appearance in the story of the eventual Super Bowl champs.

One of those guys, veteran running back and return man Kenjon Barner, played in just five games over three separate short stints with the Patriots during the first half of last season. He ran the ball just 19 times for 71 yards. He was gone for good by early November.

So Barner was clearly surprised when he received correspondence from Kraft and his own Super Bowl ring.

The letter was direct and to the point: "Enclosed please find your Super Bowl LIII ring! Thank you for your contribution to this championship team and great service to our franchise."

Barner posted photos of the letter and ring on his Instagram page and expressed his gratitude.

"Just want to send out a huge thank you to everyone at the @patriots organization again for the opportunity that was given! Wasn't expecting this when I got the call and still wasn't expecting it when the ring was In My hands! Thank you Thank you Thank you, God is good! #Back2Back #2X"

As he noted, it's the second straight season Barner secured a Super Bowl ring, earning one for the Eagles LII win over the Patriots a year ago.

The Barner family surprises continued when the running back paid it forward and posted another video of him giving the Super Bowl LIII ring to his father.

This means more to me than anything, being able to see the happiness that this stuff brings my Dad means the world to me! This why I do what I do, the joy that my family gets from this game I play, is my why!
