POLL: Are you disappointed Amazon cancelled its HQ2 plans for NYC
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Some are cheering, some are jeering.
Amazon's announcement Thursday that it's scrapping its plans to open a second headquarters in Long Island City in Queens, follows vocal backlash by some local residents and politicians.
"After much thought and deliberation, we’ve decided not to move forward with our plans to build a headquarters for Amazon in Long Island City, Queens," Amazon spokeswoman Jodi Seth said.

Firefighters search for worker at scene of Brooklyn wall collapse
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Firefighters were at the scene of a wall collapse in Brooklyn Wednesday afternoon searching for a trapped worker, but by late afternoon the FDNY said it had reclassified its operation from a rescue to a recovery.

It appeared the worker was trapped by part of a wall that collapsed into a trench at a construction site on 39th Street and 7th Ave in Sunset Park.
No other injuries have been reported.
