NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Firefighters battled a massive fire as well as the elements in Queens on Monday.

The raging inferno tore through a toy and medical supply warehouse in College Point, 1010 WINS' Roger Stern reported.

Smoke could be seen from miles away, Stern reported.

Firefighters battling the blaze had to deal with exploding oxygen tanks and slipping hazards due to the brutal weather conditions.

Even though firefighters had to take frequent breaks, they were able to rescue a worker who was in critical but stable condition.

Meanwhile, firefighters in Scarsdale also had a difficult time battling a massive fire in a multi-million dollar home Monday morning.

The fire in the 7 bedroom, 8 bathroom home on Mamaroneck Road began about 2 a.m.

No one was injured and tere is no word on the cause of the fire.
