NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The “Fearless Girl” statue is no longer staring down the “Charging Bull” on Broadway – she’s staring down the entire New York Stock Exchange a few blocks away.

"Fearless Girl" was unveiled outside the Stock Exchange Monday morning after a move that was announced earlier this year

The now-famous statue, which represents female empowerment, was moved from her perch near the well-known bull because crowds of tourists were blocking traffic.

State Street Global Advisors installed the four-foot "Fearless Girl" in March 2017 for what was supposed to be a seven-day exhibit encouraging more women on corporate boards.

State Street’s Lori Heinel says the inspiring statue is now here for the long haul.

“She earned a place in people’s hearts, and in doing so she has earned the opportunity to extend her stay in New York,” Heinel said at Monday’s unveiling.

The girl's permanent move is making residents like Norma happy.

“That’s great, because I live here and I love that girl,” Norma told 1010 WINS' Roger Stern. “It reminds me every morning that I have to be strong.”
