Facade Falls From River Edge Strip Mall

July 03, 2018 - 3:54 pm

RIVER EDGE, NJ (1010 WINS) -- The entire facade of a strip mall in River Edge, New Jersey collapsed on Tuesday morning.

It happened at 474 Kinderkamack Road -- Courtney Lichtenberger was inside her store National Artifacts when she thought a few pebbles struck the front window.

"And then I heard like a larger rock, and when I was walking towards the window that's when it all came crashing down," she said.

There were no reports of injuries, but store employees and patrons were stuck inside stores while exits were blocked.

"It was like a Fourth of July miracle (to have nobody get hurt), this is such a busy shopping mall," Fire Chief George O'Connell said.

The facade crashed onto several parked cars.
